Some gaming smartphone users by leveraging stalking apparently cell phone's microphone. However, the microphone is not listening to the voice of the users but rather what watched users.
In its report, the Times said that more than 250 games in Store Play Google has identified monitoring user habits of watching TV by using a piece of software.
The software comes from a company called Alphonso which provides software that is able to identify the TV show based on votes, as Shazam who was able to identify music.
Though not record what the user was talking about, the software identifies the sound emitted from the TV to find out what user watchable. In the end, that data could potentially be sold to advertisers.
One important issue in this case is that the device is attached to approve Alphonso applications intended for children. The Play not only in Store, some applications including games that use software that is also found in Play Store.
Applications that are indeed asking user permission for access microphone and other access. Unfortunately many users are reluctant to read the provisions in the application so that it does not realize the impact that overthrow. So as reported by The Verge, Thursday (4/1/2017).
